The Institute played to two standing-room only crowds at Xavier High School in New York Jan. 25-26.
“We were adding chairs each night. Our veteran cast gave performances people will be talking about for a long time,” says 2nd Act Co-founder and the play’s director and author John N. Frank.
Frank wrote the play in 2016, inspired by his years at Xavier during the Vietnam War. He successfully produced it in Chicago in 2016 and jumped at the chance to do two staged readings of it at the place that inspired it.
“The Xavier crowds were so into the story, we had a standing ovation the first night, something we’ve never experienced before,” Frank said.
“Now that we’re back home, our attention is turning to paying for the New York performances which cost several thousand dollars above and beyond our receipts there,” he said.
