The family matriarch, momma (Julie Mitre) has been slowed by strokes and cataracts from the days when she led her church rosary society in a wide range of church activities.
She’s raised eight children through some of the most difficult times in U.S. history but as the party begins in New Year’s Eve at Grandma’s House, we realize she has lost her husband in the past year and now must be the matriarch who guides this family through the travails ahead.
She passes her time listening to Italian-language radio and thinks of the old country
In real life, the person momma is based on never learned English and so only spoke Italian. We have given her voice in English to facilitate the story telling. Come see lead her family, buy your ticket now for New Year’s Eve At Grandma’s House, with shows Nov. 3-18, Saturday evenings at 7, Sundays at 3. Simply click here for tickets.
