Caroline Cassidy will play Stella in our December production of It’s My Brooklyn, Too! Stella is the outsider in the Smaldone family, shunned by most of her husband’s sisters, she still dutifully comes to family events but dreams of escaping to a place far from her antagonists.
Here, read about Caroline and her acting career.
1 How and why did you get into acting?
I began acting at my regional community arts center when I was in elementary school. I always felt such a huge sense of community walking into a room full of artists and continue to find so much freedom in exploring my own identity through other people’s stories.
2. If you could play any character in any play or movie, who would you pick and why?
I’d love to play Lady Macbeth someday. She represents a terrifying sense of power and darkness that I would never normally be cast to play. Plus she’s an incredibly iconic female character in Shakespeare’s canon – it’d be an honor.
3. What was your most recent acting role before this play and what did you learn about yourself doing it?
My most recent acting role before this play was a guest star role on Evil Lives Here. I learned how multi-perspective research is such an important part of my preparation process as an actor.
