2nd Act Players’ Alum are lighting up Chicago-area stages in 2022

While the 2nd Act Players stage remains dark because of Covid concerns, actors with whom we have been fortunate to work in the past are lighting up stages across the Chicago-land area and the country with powerful performances.

Most recently, Violet Sky Productions announced Debra Rodkin will be in the cast for its production of Summer and Smoke by Tennessee Williams. For more information, see Violet Sky’s Facebook page.

Also, Valerie Gorman has been cast in Sister Act at the Metropolis Performing Arts Center in Arlington Heights and Shannon Leigh Webber is part of the cast of Red Riding Hood, described as “professional actors recreate a Hollywood film from home in one take,” according to BroadwayWorld.com.

Julie Mire is understudying a role in Broken Nose Theatre’s production of After The Blast.

Earlier this year, Talia Langman delivered an incredibly powerful performance playing Ruth Bader Ginsberg in When There are Nine at PrideArts in Chicago and Brandy Miller was soul-stirring as she starred in She Loves Me at the Blank Theater Company, also in Chicago.

Jeff Watkins has booked roles in several independent films and was in the cast for the Oakton Community College Student Playwriting Festival in March. He also performed in the 2nd Annual Black Centric Showcase in February.

Sandy Gulliver has been working on a number of projects and recently saw a film she executive produced win a Grand Jury Award — Best Performance at the Gasparilla International Film Festival.

“we always hoped we could be a very small stepping stone for actors to hone their craft and go on to bigger and better things, so it’s so gratifying to see all these people we’ve acted with or directed continuing to practice their craft,” says 2nd Act Players’ cofounder John N. Frank.
