Buy a shirt, help an actor, #chicagoactstogether

Chicago-area theaters have been dark for weeks now and when they will reopen is anyone’s guess. When audiences will feel comfortable coming to see theater again is another open question. All that uncertainty has meant no work, and no income, for Chicago actors, directors, crews and other theater professionals.

To help our dear theater friends, the 2nd Act Players is joining together with 87 other Chicago-area theaters to promote sales of a new, limited-edition “Chicago Acts Together” T-shirt. Proceeds from the sale will go to the @chicagoplays’ Chicago Theatre Workers Relief Fund

The fund was set up early in the Covid-19 crisis by the League of Chicago Theaters with help from The Saints, the group of vcolunteer ushers we all see when we attend almost every Chicago stage production. The fund has been making $500 grants to needy Chicago theater professionals during this crisis.

The T-shirt features the names of all participating theaters — INCLUDING THE 2ND ACT PLAYERS. All proceeds from sales will go to The Chicago Theatre Workers Relief Fund.

None of us wants to live in a world without theater and the people who make it happen, so please, go to:

to purchase a t-shirt and support this worthy cause.

We’re planning to buy two at least. Get one for everyone you know who loves Chicago-area theater!!!

Can you find us in this impressive list of theaters? I circled our name to make it easier for you.
