See “The Lady in the Woods” before it hits Broadway this October

When you attend the 2nd Act Players’ 2017 New Playwrights’ Showcase this Sept. 23-24, you’ll see a bit of history in the making. One of the plays we’ll be reading at each performance, The Lady in the Woods, will be going straight from Evanston to off-Broadway performances in New York at the New York New Works Theatre Festival this October!

Playwright Hyten Davidson let us know the exciting news recently and we had to crow about picking her play first for our showcase! The 2nd Act Players’ mission is to showcase new talent for the stage, that’s the reason we’re having the showcase. So it’s gratifying to know we picked a script that other agree is excellent.

“It will be performed at The Den Theater in Times Square during the festival Oct. 3-7th,” Hyten tells us. “The panel judging the performance includes Broadway producers, tony winners, Emmy winners, casting directors and others.”

The Lady in the Woods begins with a woman receiving a weary hermit forced indoors as the result of a growing storm.

Come see it for yourself, and be able to say you knew about it before those Broadway critics did!

I know a lot of Hyten’s Facebook friends already have been visiting our site. It’s time you all got your tickets to come hear the play. Simply click here to join us either Saturday night, Sept. 23, or Sunday afternoon, Sept. 24. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. See you there!
