Jean Waller has an acting challenge ahead of her as she plays Kathy in the 2nd Act Players debut of The Institute, Coming of Age during the Vietnam War. When the story begins, Jean is at a 45th high school reunion with her husband, Shamus, and her brother Patrick. Yes she married one of her brother’s best friends.
But as the play continues, the men revert to their younger selves, and so does Jean, becoming a 16-year-old girl again, meeting her husband-to-be for the first time at an Institute dance.
Young Kathy is carrying a terrible secret with her, one that makes her reluctant to let any boy get close to her, let alone one as forward as young Shamus.
