“Our mission is to showcase new talent in stories about key 2nd acts in people’s lives. That includes new directing talent,” explains co-founder John N. Frank, who will be directing Last Days of Wonder, one of the two plays which will be performed each evening of the festival which opens Saturday evening, March 11 and extends through a Sunday matinee March 26.

“I think directing will come naturally to me since I spent a good portion of my first act – my 40-year journalism career – as either an editor, editorial director or associate publisher working with creative people to bring new creative endeavors to fruition. It already feels very familiar,” says Frank.

Chris Johnson, a founding actor of the 2nd Act Players and now a board member, will be directing Falling into Macy. Chris has directed before, bringing Remembrance to the Saint Sebastian Players stage in 2016 and also serving as associate director for the same play when it was co-produced by the 2nd Act Players earlier in 2016.

“When I first read Falling into Macy, I knew I wanted to direct this terrific play! It really resonated with me and, I think, it will resonate with our audience too. I’m looking forward to working with the talented cast and crew we have assembled to bring this compelling work to the stage for the very first time.”

The festival also will feature associate directors for the first time in 2nd Act Players’ history. Kirsty Collins, who was one of the stars on 2nd Act’s production of The Institute in 2016 will be associate director for Last Days of Wonder while Melissa Phillips, former 2nd Act stage and production manager, will be associate director for Falling into Macy and also acting in that show.

Performances begin on Saturday, March 11, and will take place every Friday and Saturday evening from that date until March 25. Sunday matinees begin on March 12 and will take place every Sunday through March 26.
