The 2nd Act Players will be holding auditions Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its theater at Northminster Church, 2515 Central Park Ave., Evanston. Callbacks, if needed, July 21, 11-2 p.m.
Seeking to fill eight roles for fall production of the new, two-act play New Year’s Eve at Grandma’s House.
Performances will be the first three weekends in November, Nov. 3-4, Nov. 10-11, Nov. 17-18. Saturday shows at 7 p.m., Sunday shows at 3 p.m.
Rehearsals will begin Wednesday, Sept.. 5 and also take place Thursday, Sept. 6. Subsequent rehearsals will be every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday starting Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 7-10 p.m. with tech on Thursday Nov. 1 and final dress rehearsal on Friday, Nov.2
Please only apply if these dates are all free for you (we will work around any needs to take off for religious holidays which fall in September for individual actors) and also only apply if you have your own transportation to Evanston, Public transportation is not a reliable option to reach our theater.
Momma: 60s to 70s, matriarch of a large Italian-American family, an immigrant
Sonny: 40s – Momma’s boy and a braggart
Del: 40s – Momma’s oldest daughter, now caring for momma
Julianna: late teens to early 20s – momma’s youngest and her favorite. She wants to have a career.
Bill: 20s. 30s – Julianna’s Irish-American fiancée who is a young attorney; this actor also will play a utility company worker in two scenes.
Stella: 30s to 40s – Sonny’s wife and the family outsider
Faye: 30s, 40s — momma’s superstitious daughter
Sal: 40s — Faye’s husband, he carriers scars from World War II
Actors will receive a $100 travel stipend for their participation.
