2nd Act Players’ actors will assemble Saturday, July 22 for what’s known as a table read of the new two-act version of Talking with My Dad.
The Players hope to do a full stage production of the play, written by cofounder John N. Frank, this November in their pre-Covid home of Northminster Presbyterian Church.
“Talking with My Dad was originally a one-act play I wrote in 2014,” Frank explains. “I wrote a second act during Covid and want to see the entire play done on-stage now. A table read is like a shakedown cruise for the new script. I’ll hear how it sounds and make necessary changes before we start rehearsals in September.”
The play centers around Frankie, a man about to have heart surgery who talks with the ghost of his dead father about issues they’ve had and about the heart disease that plagues them both.
