Evanston-area merchants, here’s a great, inexpensive, way to show your support for the performing arts

North suburban merchants and service providers, let your customers and potential customers know you support the performing arts in their community by donating a product or service to the Evanston 2nd Act Players’ 2018 fund-raising auction. Donations with face values of at least $25 are greatly appreciated.

Join returning donors Temperance Beer Co., F.E.W. Spirits Distillery, The Spice House, Backlot Coffee, The Oil Lamp Theater, and The Paper Source who already have donated items such as distillery tours and tastings, a box of spices, a class and gift card to the auction. Harold’s Hardware, Orangetheory Fitness on Central Street, Apelian Carpets and Bluestone also have committed to donations, so you’ll be in good company.

Your item and a description will appear on the silent auction tables at all 2nd Act Players November performances of the new two-act version of New Year’s Eve at Grandma’s House which opens Nov. 3 at the 2nd Act Players’ theater in Northminster Church, Evanston. You’ll also be acknowledged on the theater’s website and in show programs.

“Survey after survey shows people want to do business with local businesses that support the community. Here’s a great chance to show that support. Our audiences pay attention to who is in our auction and program, especially when it comes to looking for places to eat before and after shows,” says 2nd Act Cofounder John N. Frank.

Restaurants that donate gift certificates will be included on the Where to Dine page and in a special Where to Dine email we sent to ticket buyers before shows, Frank says.

“Ticket sales cover less than half our expenses, we need help from local businesses to continue bringing new works and new talent for the stage to Evanston,” says Frank.
