Show Time! Our One-Act Play Festival Opens Tonight!!!!

The 2nd Act Players’ One-Act Play Festival opens tonight, Saturday, March 11, and it’s not too late to buy your tickets for one fo eight scheduled performances running weekends through March 26. What you will see is two one-act plays performed each evening of the festival. Click here to buy your tickets and avoid long lines at the door.

Your one ticket entitles you to see both plays, one lasting about 30 minutes, the other an hour, so you’ll have about a two-hour night of entertainment (including intermission). And we have special events scheduled after most performances as well.

The 2nd Act Players came into being, officially in 2015 but unofficially in 2013, with a mission to showcase new talent. Out of that grew our One-Act Script Competition in which we invited playwrights with a Chicago connection to submit new plays. We selected two winners and those are the plays you’ll see at the festival.

The first, The Last Days of Wonder, looks at the love between an ailing mother and her grown daughters, while the second, Falling Into Macy, looks at love from the perspective of two couples. The universal truths in these plays attracted us to them and will entertain you and get you to think.

Now, more than ever, we need the arts, so please come out to our theater at Northminster Church in Evanston and support the performing arts while enjoying yourself.
