ArLynn Leiber Presser’s Remembrance played to near sold-out houses for its limited three-show engagement at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center in late January. The play marked the first co-production by the 2nd Act Players and the end of the 2nd Act Players first full season of plays in Evanston.
More than 170 theater goers saw one of the three Remembrance shows, boosting overall attendance for the 2nd Act Players first season to nearly 500 people, a record for the infant theater company.
“Co-producing was a learning experience for us and one that helped us tap into a new audience that hopefully will stay with us as we develop plans for our 2016-2017 season,” says 2nd Act co-founder John N. Frank. Going forward, 2nd Act Players will be the sole producer of its productions.
The 2016-2017 season will include Frank’s newest play, The Institute, about a group of young men attending military school during the height of the Vietnam War. “We’re going to build on last year for bigger and better things,” Frank says. “We have some special plans to make my play into more than just a stage play. We want to bring back the Vietnam years in every way possible, turning the play into a multimedia experience. Stay tuned for details.”
