Remember the 2nd Act Players on #GivingTuesday

Today is Giving Tuesday, a day to give back to your community by supporting the not-for-profits of your choice. We would be most grateful if you would show your support for the 2nd Act Players. Your contributions have a major impact on the shows we are able to bring you. Fully 47% of our operating income this year came from donations, foundation grants and our program sponsors. That figure is not uncommon for performing arts organizations such as ours. The arts depend on your generosity to grow and flourish. What sort of world would we have without the arts? I prefer not to think of such a drab and sad place.

Your contributions this year allowed us to hire a professional  director and professional stage manager who elevated our production of Boys in the Basement to new heights, as evidenced by this wonderful review the show received.

Your contributions allowed us to rent professional theater space in which to present our show and to incorporate as a not-for-profit theater company so that we can continue to grow and expand the range of productions we bring you.

In 2016, your contributions will allow us to:

  • Hold our first-ever new script competition which will provide the opportunity for new playwrights to have their works performed on stage.
  • Allow the 2nd Act Players to offer its actors transportation stipends for the first time. Myriad theater groups in Chicago ask actors to work for free. We want to elevate the quality of our productions by doing more for our actors and, in the process, attract a wider pool of talent for future productions.

Please give what you can today, every dollar you give goes directly into our productions. Our founders take no salary and no stipends from the Players, so there are no administrative costs to eat up your dollars. Every penny can be seen on stage.

Thank you so very much.
